WElcome!

Welcome to my MET portfolio! My name is Kathleen Mercury, and the 2016-2017 school year will be my 13th year of teaching (how time flies!).

There are several moments in time when the world changed, like the Industrial Revolution, as the economy shifted from agrarian to a market economy fueled by the development of the factory system. We are experiencing yet another shift in humanity's development with a comparable impact on our civilization and the world we live in--the Information Age. Understanding technology, not just as a set of tools but as an integrated way of thinking, allows teachers to develop meaningful instruction to prepare our students for this brave, new, super crazy exciting world.

I undertook this MET program to further my skill set in technology, especially to develop and deepen my graphic design and programming skills, both essential in game design, and you can see what I created. Games in education, both tabletop and digital, have been emerging as many have been experimenting with "gamifying" their classrooms, and it's exciting to be part of that development, to collaborate with fellow educators around the world.

I hope you find this MET portfolio and this website itself to be a helpful resource to get to know me and my work and to enable future collaboration.
