Unit Timeframes
Depending on the time you have to spend on a game design unit, here's my general schedule for planning and pacing.
Semester-Long Class
Our semesters are approximately 18 weeks long, and I usually plan for one big thing per week which makes the pace brisk but allows for more time needed as it arises.
Week one: Introduction to Games Through Play!
Week two: Repeat with a second round of games OR Game Mechanics & Groups
Week three: Quick Game Design Workshop
Week four: Teaching Games to Each Other
Week five: Remix the groupings from Teaching Games to Each Other
Week six: How I Teach Mechanics Now
Week seven:
