My Reflection
Web Design:
I had some experience with HTML a few years back, so I was thankful that I was beginning from that foundation. I really enjoyed creating web pages with HTML as it was a great experience to be detailed and to employ problem solving and creativity skills. I think I enjoyed it more when something didn’t work so I could learn more to figure out why. I really had a hard time working with CSS within HTML, I could not figure out how to integrate the two well and how the various tags worked together. I went to a friend who’s the webmaster for a chain of casinos, and he worked with me to help me understand how they fit together. Once I understood that, I was able to create my site. I’ve used what I’ve learned in this class when I’ve needed to embed videos in other courses discussions and when I’ve needed to create specific code on my district website to create the effects I want.
The Lesson:
With my project, I sought to explain some basic elements of humor from a theoretical perspective so users can understand how to be funny. There are activities for students to analyze the humor in published works in the media using this theoretical knowledge. The culminating piece for students is to create an original stand up comedy routine by applying what they have learned. While this website is not complete with all activities that I do with my students, you can get an overview of the work that takes place.
